When there are multiple missing teeth, weak anchor teeth or no posterior teeth to anchor on, a removable partial denture is used to replace teeth. These restorations typically are made of a metal framework and a plastic base with teeth. They must be removed for daily cleaning and at night.
Partial Dentures are considered a type of cost-effective treatment alternative. They are often indicated to replace sextants of missing teeth when it is not economically feasible to restore the toothless spaces with implant-supported crown and/or bridgework. This ensures a good esthetic outcome but, more importantly, functions of speech and mastication is not compromised. Patients no longer need to feel socially compromised if they can ill-afford dental implants.
